While your teen may drive safely with a responsible parent or instructor in the car, crash rates increase dramatically when a new motorist is driving solo or with only other young people onboard.
Using innovative technology, professional coaching and parent feedback, our Teen Safe Driver Program helps turn risky driving behaviors into safe on-road practices.
A motion sensor device is installed near the rear-view mirror of your teen's vehicle. It records sights and sounds inside and outside the vehicle when triggered by erratic vehicle movement, such as swerving, hard braking and sudden acceleration.
When the device is triggered, images and sounds are sent wirelessly to the Teen Safe Driver Center, where professional driving coaches analyze the footage to provide tips for preventing similar incidents. Check out these examples from other participants.
Parents login weekly to the confidential Teen Safe Driver online report card, which features videos and an objective assessment of the driver's performance compared with other teens. Parents can then use the report card to have an open conversation with their teen driver.
Teens participating in the program have demonstrated remarkable improvement in their driving habits.
The best part: This program is absolutely free for American Family auto insurance customers!
